Yonder
An outdoor app for tracking the places you visit, posting photos of them and finding other people who have been.
The goal
The client wanted an app for people who spend time outdoors: a record of the places they had been, somewhere to keep the photos, and a way to reach other people who had visited the same spots. Maps and location had to sit at the centre of it rather than be bolted on, and it had to work the same on iPhone and Android.
How it works
Each platform has its own native app, Swift on iOS and Java on Android, both talking to a single Java Spring backend. Maps and localisation do the tracking: visit a place and it joins your record, with whatever photos you upload attached to it. Push notifications are wired in on top.
