A hybrid mobile app built on Cordova, sharing its front end with the client's web application.
The goal
The client wanted a mobile app that cost less than building the same thing twice, and that still ran smoothly. It had to connect to their cloud services and share a front end with the web application already in place, so one set of screens covered both. Native performance was not the requirement. One consistent product was.
How it works
The app is built with Cordova and TypeScript, wrapped around the same front end as the web product, with native plugins bridging to the device where the web layer cannot reach. Behind it sits an ASP.NET Web API in C#, with Umbraco for content and SQL Server for data. Azure runs the hosting, the push notifications and the monitoring.
